A casual introduction had been made through one of the many on-line dating services she had recently explored. His bio was intriguing, but it was his headshot that attracted her.
After hours of chats, sharing mutual appreciations and interesting interactions they decided to meet in person. A rendezvous location was selected, the old entrance to the park they shared as a common place to exercise, stroll and just unwind. They laughed, thinking they may have crossed paths there before but never met. She put on her favorite hat and grabbed her trusty dog Pete, A stumpy little 6-year-old pug mix, for support.
As she patiently waited his arrival a delivery person peddled up with a bouquet of flowers barking out her name. Claiming her flowers she noticed the attached apologetic note from him. Something at work had come up; he was not able to make their scheduled date. She inquisitively looked at the flowers, “Red Tulips’’, she said to herself. I hate red tulips, “so ordinary” she thought.
She remembered a conversation they shared regarding likes and dislikes and was sure flowers was a focused topic. She sat disillusioned contemplating her rejection and the damn red tulips; she glanced over her shoulder to see Pete with a yellow rose griped in his teeth. Here favorite flower being held by her loved companion. “He knows her so well”. She saw it as a sign. Upon returning home she tossed the tulips and cancelled her subscription to the dating site.
