Recently I have been playing combining water color painting, color pencil and various solvent transfers. This is a image I created using this technique. Although it is an ongoing practice session I like where things are going.

  1. I saw your show at {9} The Gallery last night and think your images are fascinating. Were they done with the solvent technique that you mention here? Can you give me an idea of what this technique involves? It’s beautiful. I am not an artist, just someone that loves art.

    1. Thank you for the kind words Darcie. Most all my pieces utilize some form of the solvent technique. The solvents include Acetone, Paint Thinner and Bestine (rubber cement remover). Once I have final drawings done I either use acetone to transfer inks onto other papers or paint thinner and acetone to melt the ink into the paper. The solvent melt the ink enough that you can rub it off onto other substrates. It evaporates quickly so yo have to work fast and be prepared to mess up a lot. Dino.
